John battled lung cancer for about 1 1/2 to 2 years at the Hillman Cancer Center and was most recently in intensive care at Shadyside Presby and then in rehab at Concordia - there was a service for him Sept 1 at Carnegie Christian Church - it was well attended and many kind words were expressed by family and friends - John was a likable guy and good friend - I  spent many an evening drinking coffee in his kitchen talking about old times in Dormont and classmates from DHS.in recent years
